NSW Severe Weather Warning: Damaging/Hazardous Winds

Bureau of Meteorology Warning

For people in the Alpine areas of: ACT, South West Slopes and Southern Tablelands.

Synoptic Situation: 9:00 am EST Saturday. A cold front expected to move across the Alpine areas Sunday afternoon or evening. Northwest winds ahead of the front are expected to increase during Saturday afternoon and evening to average over 65 km/h with peak wind gusts expected to exceed 90 km/h. In areas above 1900 metres winds are expected to average over 80 km/h with peak wind gusts expected to exceed 125 km/h. Emergency services advise you to keep clear of fallen power lines, stay indoors away from windows and keep children indoors. The National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that people consider postponing back country travel until conditions improve.
