Bureau of Meteorology Warning For people in the Alpine areas of South West Slopes, Southern Tablelands and ACT above 1900 metres. Vigorous westerly airstream behind a cold front which passed through the area Sunday afternoon. Westerly winds are expected to average over 80 km/h at times. Peak wind gusts are expected to exceed 125 km/h. Emergency services advise you to keep clear of fallen power lines, stay indoors away from windows and keep children indoors. The National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that people consider postponing back country travel until conditions improve. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 132 500. |
