Bureau of Meteorology Warning
For people in the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast districts.
A trough over southeastern Queensland is expected to deepen and form a low in the vicinity of Cape Byron early Friday. It should then move southwards to be located east of Port Macquarie by late afternoon. Rainfall over the area is expected to increase overnight on the Northern Rivers district, contracting further south to the Mid North Coast during Friday. Heavy rain and flash flooding are likely on the northern half of the North Coast overnight, extending to about Coffs Harbour during Friday morning and possibly the southern Mid North Coast Friday afternoon. Rain should ease from the north during the day, and mostly clear the Northern Rivers by Friday night.
Strong gusty winds are expected with mean speeds of 65 km/h and gusts in excess of 90 km/h along coastal parts.
