Bureau of Meteorology Warning
Preliminary minor flood warning for the Bellinger River at Thora.
Note: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning [see note below].
A low is forming off the far north coast of NSW this morning. It should move southwards to be located east of Port Macquarie by evening. Rainfall is expected to increase today in the Mid North Coast district. Rain should contract south during the day.
A Flood Warning is current for the Bellinger Valley. At this stage, apart from the possibility of local flash flooding, main river flooding is not expected in other major rivers
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Across NSW, about 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.
