Weather Situation
A low pressure system continues to develop over South Australia and is expected to be centred near Adelaide by this evening. The low will intensify as it moves southeastwards across southwestern Victoria during Saturday to be near Tasmania Saturday night. The low will then move rapidly away to the southeast on Sunday.

Destructive winds averaging 60 to 75 km/h with widespread peak gusts around 110 km/h but reaching 130 km/h along the ranges are forecast to develop tonight and during Saturday for the Alpine Areas, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera, Mallee, Central, East Gippsland and Northeast forecast districts and the elevated parts of the Western and West and South Gippsland forecast districts.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

People should not park or shelter under trees.
Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
Keep clear of fallen power lines.
For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
