NSW Flood Watch: Severn and Macintyre Rivers and Gwydir River Valley
Source: Bureau of Meteorology

FLOOD WATCH FOR MINOR FLOODING ALONG THE SEVERN AND MACINTYRE RIVERS AND THE GWYDIR RIVER VALLEY
Issued at 10:44 AM on Thursday the 9th of September 2010

Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

A cold front preceded by a rain band will move across western and southeastern
New South Wales during Thursday and through the northeast during Friday.
Forecast rain totals in the order of 20 to 40 millimetres are expected over
Thursday and Friday over these catchments. Forecast rain amounts are shown on
the Bureau's web site in the Water and the Land section.

The area is wet from recent rain and there is a higher than 70% chance of some
minor flooding in the Severn, Macintyre and Gwydir river valleys.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams
must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to
higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor
Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for
which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Across NSW,
about 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.

FloodSafe advice is available at www.ses.nsw.gov.au

For emergency assistance call the SES on telephone number 132 500.
For life threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately.

Flood warnings, river and rainfall data is available here.
