Severe thunderstorms with large hail over the northern Adelaide
area
Weather Situation: Thunderstorms associated with a complex low
pressure system are moving across parts of SA.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 11:25 am, very dangerous
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Two Wells,
Virginia, Angle Vale, St Kilda, the Waterloo Corner area and
Edinburgh. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. Very
dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Elizabeth,
Salisbury, Gawler, Nuriootpa, Mount Pleasant and Truro by 11:55 am
and the area east of Mount Pleasant by 12:25 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near
Adelaide City, Glenelg, Noarlunga, Brighton, Hallett Cove and
Blackwood. They are forecast to affect Mount Barker, Strathalbyn,
Tea Tree Gully, McLaren Vale, Birdwood and Meadows by 11:55 am and
Palmer by 12:25 pm.
Large, possibly giant hailstones and damaging winds are
likely.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
