Watch and Act - Bushfire - Prepare to Evacuate

This Watch and Act message is being issued for Anglers Rest.

It is strongly recommended that you Prepare to Evacuate.
There is a bushfire at Anglers Rest that is not yet under control.
A planned burn in the Alpine National Park has breached containment lines.
The fire has crossed the Bundara River and is burning into Anglers Rest north of the Blue Duck.
If you choose to stay, emergency services may not be able to help you.
If you are located in Anglers Rest, act now to protect your life. Prepare to evacuate immediately and leave as soon as you are ready, as roads will become busy as people leave.

Clothing for three days
Medicine for three days
Phone and chargers
Toiletries
Important documents
Momentos and photos
Pet essentials, including leash and carriers.
If possible, make sure your neighbours are aware of the situation and check if they need help.
Check the VicRoads website for road closures.

When you are ready, you should leave immediately. Don't wait to be told when to leave.

Where to go:
You can go to friends or family in a safer location.

Directions and routes:
The safest evacuation route is Omeo Highway.
Consider roads may become busy closer to the time of impact.
Impacts in your area:

The Omeo Highway has reduced speed limits and traffic management is in place.
