FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR THE TUMUT, NAMOI, PEEL, UPPER MACINTYRE AND
GWYDIR RIVERS
A series of troughs approaching from the southwest of New South
Wales is expected to bring moderate rainfall to the south western
and north western NSW. Rainfall has been observed since Wednesday
and is expected to continue from Thursday through to
Saturday.
Catchments are relatively wet from recent rainfall. WaterNSW
commenced pre-releases on 6 July to provide some flood mitigation
capacity.
As the weather system moves east, it may cause local and riverine
flooding from Thursday for the catchments listed. Riverine flooding
may begin earlier than advised in previous flood watches.
Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for
catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Upper Macintyre River
minor flooding
Gwydir River
minor flooding
Peel River
minor flooding
Namoi River
minor flooding
Tumut River
minor to moderate flooding

Flood Safety Advice:
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers
and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings
and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding
develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to
be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau
of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy
rain is forecast or observed.
