Heavy Rainfall Tuesday morning for parts of Illawarra

Weather Situation: A slow moving trough between Ulladulla and Wollongong is generating persistent shower activity about parts of the Illawarra coast. The trough is expected to weaken later Tuesday morning.
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely for parts of the Illawarra coast Tuesday morning, mainly between Huskisson and Port Kembla.

Some locations are likely to experience rainfall rates exceeding 50 mm in one hour.
Currently, the heaviest rain is located on radar near Gerringong and Foxground.
Rainfall is expected to ease later Tuesday morning as the trough weakens.
Locations which may be affected include Gerringong, Gerroa, Kiama, Port Kembla and Huskisson.

Foxground recorded 53 mm of rain in the hour from 10:45pm to 11:45pm Monday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
