Severe thunderstorms are developing over inland parts of Queensland.

Weather Situation:
A humid and unstable airmass east of an inland trough is producing thunderstorm activity, enhanced by an upper low resulting in the potential for severe thunderstorms across inland parts of Queensland this afternoon and evening.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Locations which may be affected include Barcaldine, Tambo, Springsure, Injune, Alpha and Carnarvon National Park.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Maranoa and Warrego district. Locations which may be affected include Hungerford and Barringun.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
