Severe storms moving off the northern Gold Coast. Other severe storms expected between about Maroochydore and Bundaberg over the next few hours.

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Maroochydore, Gympie, Noosa Heads, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Hervey Bay waters, Cooroy, North Stradbroke Island, Rainbow Beach and Tiaro.

Hail to cricket ball size has been reported with storms about the Sunshine Coast.

Hail to golf ball size reported with storms about the northern Gold Coast.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
