The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:50 pm, severe
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Brisbane CBD,
Beenleigh and Logan City. These thunderstorms are moving towards
the east. They are forecast to affect Cleveland, Strathpine,
Redcliffe and Caboolture by 7:20 pm and waters off Bribie Island,
Beerburrum and northern Bribie Island by 7:50 pm.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.
51mm in the 60 minutes to 5pm at Maroon Dam.
2-3cm hail at Greenmount (south of Toowoomba).
40mm in 15 minutes at Priestdale Alert.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
