INTENSE RAINFALL LIKELY NEAR KIN KIN AND EAST OF GYMPIE.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:35 am, severe
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Lake
Cooloola. They are forecast to affect Lake Cootharaba and Kin Kin
by 2:05 am and the area east of Gympie, the area northeast of
Gympie and Pomona by 2:35 am.
Intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening
flash flooding is likely.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
