for INTENSE RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS

For people in Brisbane City and parts of Ipswich, Logan, Redland City and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:10 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Redcliffe and Beachmere. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southwest. They are forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Logan City and Strathpine by 8:40 am and Caboolture, Samford and Lake Samsonvale by 9:10 am.

Intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding and damaging winds are likely.

Heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
