Flood Watch Number: 1

A low pressure system is expected to pass to the east of Tasmania on Wednesday.

Catchments are wet from widespread rain last weekend.

Widespread rainfall totals of 20 to 50 mm are forecast for Wednesday across the eastern half of Tasmania, highest along the east coast and in elevated areas.

Potentially higher totals up to 100 mm are possible depending on the proximity of the low.

River rises are expected in response to the forecast rainfall. Flooding may develop in some catchments from Wednesday afternoon onwards, with severity depending on the rainfall totals. Further catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.

Strong and dangerous flows are possible in small creeks and low-lying areas in locations that receive heavy rainfall.

East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)
Ringarooma River
North Coastal Rivers
Tamar (Launceston)
Huon River
Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)

Coal River
East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)
South East
