Initial Flood Watch for North West, North and North East Catchments

Flood Watch Number: 1

Minor flooding is possible from Friday in catchments in the north of the State.

A cold front is expected to cross Tasmania bringing showers on Thursday and Friday.

Upper catchment areas are relatively wet from antecedent rainfall over the last month. Central areas are still relatively dry.

Widespread 2-day rainfall totals of 15-35 mm are forecast across the north. Higher totals are possible in elevated areas, with up to 80 mm along the Western Tiers and localized 50 mm in the North East highlands.

River rises are expected as a result of the forecast rainfall. Minor flooding is possible at some forecast locations from Friday morning.

Strong and dangerous flows are possible in small creeks and low-lying areas in locations that receive heavy rainfall.

South Esk River

Meander River

Macquarie River

Ringarooma River

North Coastal Rivers

Mersey River

Forth River
