POTENTIAL HEAVY RAINFALL IN EASTERN TASMANIA ON WEDNESDAY

Weather Situation: A low pressure system to the northeast of Tasmania is expected to move close to the east of Tasmania during Wednesday evening. The low could potentially bring heavy rainfall to eastern parts of Tasmania, but rainfall totals will be highly dependant on the position and movement of the low.

HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible about the East Coast and North East forecast districts and the Furneaux Islands during Wednesday afternoon and evening, easing overnight.

24 hour totals of in excess of 40mm are possible in the warning area, but isolated falls of up to 90mm may occur.

Locations which may be affected include Whitemark, St Helens, Swansea, Bicheno, Orford and Fingal.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Clear drains and gutters on premises prior to severe weather arriving.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Be prepared in case of power outages.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
