Locally heavy rainfall with slow moving showers over the coastal
north this evening
Weather Situation: A trough over Bass Strait is bringing slow
moving showers over parts of the north coast of Tasmania with
locally heavy falls.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is currently
occurring across coastal parts northern Tasmania this evening.
Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40mm and 70mm are
possible.
Rainfall rates are expected to gradually ease during the
evening.
Locations which may be affected include Devonport, Ulverstone and
George Town.
In the three hours to 6:20pm, Devonport recorded 64mm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Clear drains and gutters on premises prior to severe weather
arriving.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to
TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further
advice.
