Flood Watch Number: 3

Areas of minor flooding may develop across the Upper Yarra, Bunyip, Latrobe and South Gippsland Rivers catchments from early Friday.

A cold front over central Victoria will cross the east of the State Thursday evening. This will be followed by several active cold fronts crossing the State over the next few days bringing showers and thunderstorms across the flood watch area.

Catchments in the flood watch area are relatively wet following recent rainfall.

Three day accumulated rainfall totals from Thursday to Saturday across the affected catchments will be around 50-70mm. Snow level will fall to around 700m during Friday.

With forecast rainfall, river rises are expected from Thursday afternoon and minor flooding may develop across the flood watch area from early Friday.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Latrobe River
Traralgon Creek
South Gippsland Rivers
Bunyip River and Dandenong Creek
Yarra River to Coldstream

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.
