Heavy rainfall is expected from Thursday afternoon over South West
Victoria, which may cause flooding in parts of South West
Victoria.
A trough over western Victoria is expected to intensify into a low
pressure system over western Victoria later today. The intense low
will move into central Bass Strait and then quickly move away to
the southeast during Friday as a high south of WA extends a ridge
towards Victoria.
This weather system will cause rainfall and thunderstorms over
South Western Victoria overnight Thursday into Friday.
Catchments in South West Victoria are wet from recent rain,
particularly in the Otways.
Rainfall totals of 30 to 60mm are likely overnight Thursday into
Friday.
Minor flooding and rapid river rises are possible over South West
Victoria from Thursday into Friday.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Barwon, Leigh and Moorabool Rivers
Hopkins River
Lake Corangamite
Otway Coast
Portland Coast
Glenelg River
Limestone and Millicent Coast Rivers and Creeks
The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation
and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

SES advises that all community members should:

to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater
drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power
lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into
waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks,
and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and
debris across roads.
