Minor flooding is possible in the Upper Yarra and Bunyip River catchments from Wednesday.

A strong cold front is forecast to cross Victoria on Tuesday, establishing a cold and unstable southwesterly airstream across Victoria.

Catchments in the flood watch area are wet following recent rainfall.

Rainfall totals of 15-30 mm are forecast for the flood watch area on Tuesday, with higher totals up to 40 mm possible across elevated areas.

River rises are expected in response to the forecast rain and minor flooding may develop from Wednesday onwards.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Bunyip River and Dandenong Creek

Yarra River to Coldstream

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.
