Weather Situation:
A strong cold front will move over western Victoria on Saturday evening with northerly winds strengthening ahead of it. The front will cross the state on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible over the far southwest late on Saturday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds are most likely over elevated areas and peak gusts up to 110km/h are possible about the peaks of the Grampians on Saturday night.

Winds are expected to extend across southern and mountain districts overnight Saturday and early Sunday morning, mainly affecting elevated areas.

Locations which may be affected include Mount William, Hamilton, Portland, Nelson and Casterton.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
