Weather Situation:
A cold front is rapidly approaching from the southwest and will move swiftly through Bass Strait tonight and early Saturday.

Northwest to westerly winds about some coastal and elevated areas of Victoria are expected to increase to 60 to 70 km/hr tonight and early Saturday with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/hr. Coastal areas around the Otways and Wilsons Promontory may experience gusts to 110 km/h.

Gradual moderation is expected from the west early Saturday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Wonthaggi, Frankston, Falls Creek and Mt Buller.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
