Weather Situation: A vigorous west to norhtwesterly flow will continue over Victoria today with gusty showers and thunderstorms possible.

DAMAGING west to northwesterly winds of 50 to 60 km/h with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are possible with showers and thunderstorms over coastal parts of the Southwest, Central and West and South Gippsland districts today. Similar strength winds are also expected over Alpine parts of the Northeast and Gippsland districts.

Localised DAMAGING WINDS with gusts up to around 90 km/h associated with showers are possible for remaining parts of the warning area from late this morning.

Locations most likely to be affected include Portland, Warrnambool, Colac, Wonthaggi and the Alpine resorts.

Highest wind gusts recorded today (to 5am) include:

- 106km/h at Wilsons Promontory

- 89km/h at Cape Otway

- 82 km/h at Cape Nelson

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
