Weather Situation:
A cold front is forecast to enter the west of the State this afternoon, reaching Portland by around 6pm, Melbourne around 10pm, Lakes Entrance around 3am and Gabo Island around 6am.

Damaging winds around 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast to develop Tuesday afternoon about elevated areas in the west of the State, extending eastward during the late afternoon and evening.
Northerly wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible about parts of the Mallee, Wimmera and Southwest forecast districts in the afternoon just ahead of and with the passage of the cold front.

A squally westerly change will follow the cold front, with winds away from the southwest coast easing overnight.

Locations which may be affected include Horsham, Portland, Seymour, Maryborough, Kyneton and Ballarat.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
