Strong winds developing during Wednesday.

Weather Situation: A cold front is forecast to cross Victoria during Wednesday, with a vigorous westerly flow expected to develop across Victoria following the front.

DAMAGING NORTHWESTERLY WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, are expected to develop about elevated parts of the eastern ranges (above 1200 metres) late WEDNESDAY morning before easing in the early evening.

DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts to 90 km/h, are expected to develop about the southwest coastal fringe during WEDNESDAY afternoon and continue into the evening.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Mt Baw Baw, Falls Creek and Mt Hotham.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
