The following alert has been issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
Please note changes to warning areas. A Community Meeting will be held at 3pm today at the Katanning Leisure Centre.

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for parts of PINWERNYING, MOOJEBING, MARRACOONDA, WOODANILLING, KATANNING, CARROLUP, WESTWOODin the SHIRES OF KATANNING and WOODANILLING
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people in an area bounded by Hensman Road, McKenzie Road, Katanning - Dumbeyung Road, Adam Road, Van Zulaecom Road, Warren Road, Henry Street, Kojonup -Katanning Road, Hutton Road and Marracoonda Road in the SHIRES OF KATANNING and WOODANILLING.
WHAT TO DO:
If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
If you plan to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. You need to have access to an independent water supply, and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.
At all times close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.
Bushfire ADVICE for MOOJEBING and KATANNING townsites in the SHIRES OF KATANNING and WOODANILLING
A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the townsite of Katanning and an area bounded by Hensman Road, McKenzie Road, Katanning - Dumbeyung Road, Adam Road, Van Zulaecom Road, Warren Road, Withers Road, Kelly Road, Robinson Road, Cornwall Road , Onslow Roa in the SHIRES OF KATANNING and WOODANILLING, .
There is no threat to lives or homes.
There is a lot of smoke in the area.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
Read through your bushfire survival plan.
If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
Bushfire ALL CLEAR for MURDONG, MARRACOONDA, BROOMEHILL WEST, KATANNING, BROOMEHILL EAST, CARROLUP in the SHIRES ofBROOMEHILL-TAMBELLUP and KATANNING
An ALL CLEAR advice has been issued for people in an area bounded by Great Southern Highway, Broome-hill - Kojonup Road, Moore Road, Kojonuo-Katanning Road, Conning Road, Hutton Road and Great Southern Highway in the SHIRES of BROOMEHILL-TAMBELLUP and KATANNING.
The bushfire is no longer impacting the community in this area.
Firefighters will monitor the area for the rest of the day..
The danger has passed but you need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
Drive slowly and with caution due to smoke and emergency services personnel working in the area.
The bushfire is stationary.
It is contained but not controlled.
Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area.
The Shire of Katanning has now closed the temporary evacuation centre at the Kobeelya Conference Centre on Brownie Street in Katanning.
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.
A number of roads have been closed including:
Great Southern Highway between Katanning and Robinson Road
Trimmer Road between Shenton Road and Great Southern Highway
Kojonup-Katanning Road between Great Southern Highway and Albany Highway
parts of Katanning-Dumbleyung Road
The following roads have reopened:
Great Southern Highway between Broomehill townsite and Katanning
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

Western Power has advised parts of Katanning are without power.

A community meeting will be held at the Katanning Leisure centre on 4 Pemble Street at at 3pm today.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Firefighters are actively mopping up, consolidating containment lines and burning out unburnt pockets..
300 local farmers, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, State Emergency Service, Bush Fire Service firefighters are attending.
Aerial support is available to assist if required..
DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT:
Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
The fire was reported at 11:24 AM on 7 February 2020.
Currently there has been 4600 hectares burnt.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
DFES is managing the fire.
