Community Groups
EWN ALERT offers a unique opportunity for clubs and community groups to develop their own EWN ALERT network. This is a free service. Once authenticated with
EWN, the club or community group can advise members to register with them via Desktop. If your members are not already signed up to EWN ALERT™ they can download EWN ALERT™ from here.
Most communications between clubs/community groups and their members rely on mail, phone or email. EWN ALERT can provide clubs and community groups a new tool to pass on information at no cost directly to those members that need it.
EWN ALERT™ will provide clubs and community groups the ability to instantly broadcast alerts and notifications to individuals or groups. Messages can be sent via:
- Desktop ALERT™
- Mobile (SMS generally)
- Phone
- Email
- Messaging
EWN ALERT™ and Fundraising
EWN’s Notification Server can recognize versions of Desktop ALERT. In other words it can recognize whether a particular school, SES or other organization distributed it. EWN has provided a capacity to insert a sponsor into Desktop ALERT. This means an organization can raise money via distribution of Desktop ALERT to its members and others. Clubs and community groups retain all the proceeds and there is no cost for this
service. Automated receipt confirmation will let the provider know who has got the message. EWN can help prevent will help the message get past the junk in the front mailbox and save valuable time.
Clubs and community groups are not required to install any software or hardware or spend a cent. Desktop ALERT can also carry emergency alerts and notifications issued by BOM, SES, police and other emergency providers. At all times users of Desktop ALERT control how, when and from whom they wish to receive notifications from. This is a major step forwards in protecting families and the community and is the first of its kind in the world.
EWN ALERT is designed to:
- Save and protect lives
- Improve personal and community security
- Protect property
- Better manage community and group communications, and
- Always be free to schools, the public and emergency services
Who can send ALERTS?
If your community group wishes access to this system, the groups senior administrator will be authenticated and provided secure access to your own
ALERT system. From there the Administrator can register other administrators within their network
and apply permissions to what groups and message types they can send.
Security
It is anticipated that most homes will register to the ALERT system. Local administrators to the system such as SES and police will all be authenticated and only able to access those regions or districts managed by their LAC (Local Area Command). Only those administrators ‘known’ to the system can use it.
Community groups will only have access to their own members or group.
In the majority of cases the information registered to ALERT is the same as listed in the white pages. ALERT lists are not distributed and cannot be
downloaded.
Access.
Administrators can securely access the system from any computer connected to the Internet. This means that if required an Administrator can send messages from their home computer if required. In times of emergencies this
saves valuable time in broadcasting ALERTS.
Key features of the EWN
- Multi-channel. EM’s can select which channels they wish to send notifications through. This currently includes Desktop ALERT™,
SMS, phone and email. Other channels can be
added.
- Geographic. Among other selection modes, EM’s can use maps to geographically select the area they want to send a notification to.
- Alert Status. An alert status, yellow, orange or green can be assigned to notifications.
- Scheduling: ability to determine precisely when a communication will appear. You can choose to send a message immediately, at a predesignated time, or chronologically from the time the agent was installed.
- Filtering: EWN can select which communications a person is to receive according to declared preferences assigned in Desktop ALERT™.
- Reporting: not only can we tell you whether a message was displayed, we can log whether a consumer saw the message and at what time.
