Initial Flood Watch for Bemm, Cann and Genoa River catchments

Issued at 11:00 am EST on Thursday 17 June 2021 Flood Watch Number: 1

Minor flooding is possible from Friday evening in the Bemm, Cann and Genoa River catchments of East Gippsland.

A low pressure system in eastern Bass Strait on Friday will direct a strong southerly airstream over the flood watch area, bringing widespread rain to East Gippsland.

Catchments in East Gippsland are wet following recent rain.

Rainfall totals of 25 - 40 mm are forecast for East Gippsland on Friday, with isolated 50 - 60 mm possible on the ranges. A further 10 - 20 mm is forecast for Saturday.

Minor flooding is possible from Friday evening in the Bemm, Cann and Genoa River catchments of East Gippsland.

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.
