For people in parts of Barkly and Simpson districts.
Issued at 4:47 am Sunday, 1 March 2026.
Heavy rainfall remains possible about the southeast.
Weather Situation: A tropical low is positioned in north central
SA, just south of the NT border, with a southerly change expected
to arrive in the NT during midday. Rich tropical moisture on the
eastern and northern flank of the low is bringing a risk of heavy
rainfall given very high moisture levels in the area.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for
the Simpson and southern Barkly forecast districts. Six-hourly
rainfall totals exceeding 50 mm are possible, especially during
midday and into the afternoon as a southerly surge is moving
through the Simpson district from the south.
These conditions also threaten cattle and other livestock.
More isolated thunderstorm activity with locally heavy falls may
persist throughout the forecast period.
Separate Flood Watches and/or Warnings are current at the time of
issue. Please refer to
