Warning Area: Between Kruger Lane, Thorndale Road, Emu Swamp Road, Somme Lane, Evans Road and Murphys Crossing Road

A very dangerous fire is burning near Murphys Crossing Road. It is likely to impact Mount Stirling Road within the next hour.

LEAVE NOW. Any delay could put your life at risk. It will soon be too dangerous to drive.

What you should do:

- If you are in danger, call Triple Zero (000) now.

- If you have a bushfire survival plan, follow it now.

- Go to a safe place away from the Emergency Warning area. This may be with family or friends.

- Watch for embers and spot fires around your home. These may impact your home earlier than the main fire. Put them out quickly with water.

- Protect yourself from heat and smoke. Wear protective clothes that cover your skin. If you need medication to help you breathe keep it close.

- Check for warning updates often and listen to your local radio station.

- When you leave:

- Take a bag with device chargers, clothes, important documents, medicine, lots of drinking water, cash and important items.

- Be ready to take your pets, their food and supplies.

- Tell others where you are going.

- Watch out for emergency services working in the area.

- If you cannot leave safely:

- Find a safe place to shelter:

- Preferably inside a brick building.

- Stay in a room with more than one exit.

- Go to the opposite side from the approaching fire.

- Call someone to tell them where you are.

- Use hoses or sprinklers to soak the house and ground. Block downpipes at the top and fill gutters with water if you can.

- Move loose items away from around the house.

- Close windows, doors and vents. Seal gaps with wet towels.

- Fill containers with lots of water for drinking and firefighting.

- Do not fly drones around the fire as they affect firefighting.

Impacts:

- Firefighters may not be able to stop the fire. Do not expect a firefighter at your door.

- Power, water, phone, and internet services may stop working soon.

- Smoke will make it hard to see and breathe.

- It will be hot, loud, and may get dark.

- You could be cut off from help.

- Some roads may be closed or impacted. You may need to drive a different way.
