Flood Watch Number: 1
MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM

Tropical Cyclone Jasper is currently moving westward through the
Coral Sea towards the northern Queensland coast. Jasper is likely
to cause widespread rain in the Cape York Peninsula, North Tropical
Coast and adjacent Gulf of Carpentaria catchments from late Tuesday
and for the remainder of the week. As the tropical cyclone
approaches the coast abnormally high tides are possible.

Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall is forecast from Wednesday for
coastal catchments north of Ingham, corresponding with Tropical
Cyclone Jasper crossing the the coast. Heavy falls are also
forecast further inland later in the week.
A Tropical Cyclone Watch is current for Cape Melville to
Townsville.
River level rises, including widespread minor to major riverine
flooding is possible from Wednesday. In addition, localised
flooding, including flash flooding is likely.
Flooding is likely to result in disruption to transport routes and
isolation of some communities.
