for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in parts of Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast
Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Vigorous southeasterly change to bring damaging winds to
southeastern islands and ranges.
Weather Situation: A trough and vigorous southeasterly change is
expected to move through southeastern Queensland this afternoon and
evening, bringing with it damaging winds about exposed coastal
locations and elevated terrain.
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 90
km/h are possible about Moreton and Stradbroke Islands from
mid-afternoon, extending to the Bunya Mountains, Main Range and
Border Ranges this evening. Winds are expected to ease below
warning thresholds about the coast during the evening, and the
remainder of the warning area early Tuesday morning.
Severe thunderstorms are also possible about parts of inland
southeast Queensland this afternoon and evening - a separate Severe
Thunderstorm Warning may be issued if they develop.
Locations which may be affected include the Bunya Mountains,
Border Ranges, Main Range and eastern Stradbroke and Moreton
Islands.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed.
