Damaging wind gusts developing over the southwest during Thursday.

Weather Situation: A vigorous cold front is forecast to enter southwestern Queensland during Thursday morning. Gusty north to northwesterly winds ahead of this system will result in a damaging wind risk across the southern Channel Country and Maranoa & Warrego districts. Conditions will ease overnight as the system tracks south out of Queensland.

Strong winds averaging between 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible over the southern Channel Country and Maranoa & Warrego districts from late Thursday morning, easing during the evening.

Locations which may be affected include Bulloo Downs, Hungerford and Barringun.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
