Damaging winds along parts of the Queensland coastline, associated with the passage of Tropical Cyclone Jasper to the north.

Weather Situation: Tropical Cyclone Jasper is moving westward towards the far north Queensland coast. It is currently forecast to cross the coast on Wednesday, most likely between Cape Flattery and Cardwell. Associated with Jasper's passage to the north, windy conditions along parts of the Queensland coastline will continue today.

Locally DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peaks gusts of around 90 km/h are likely to continue for offshore islands and possible along exposed parts of the coastline between Mackay and Bowen this morning. Winds will strengthen between Bowen and Cape Upstart later this evening.

Winds are forecast to ease south of Hamilton Island later today, with the risk abating north of and including Hamilton Island overnight.

* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
