Damaging wind gusts developing over the Main Range and eastern lee slopes from this evening and over the Scenic Rim from early Wednesday morning.

Weather Situation: A vigorous west to southwesterly flow is likely to develop over the Main Range and eastern lee slopes from this evening and over the Scenic Rim early Wednesday morning in response to a rapidly deepening low pressure system off the NSW coast.

Strong west to southwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are likely to develop over the Main Range and eastern lee slopes from this evening and over the Scenic Rim on early Wednesday morning.

Subject to the position and strength of the low pressure system, DAMAGING WIND GUSTS may persist for parts of southeast Queensland through to Thursday.

Locations which may be affected include Springbrook and Crows Nest.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
