Flood Watch Number: 3

FLOODING POSSIBLE IN EYRE PENINSULA, YORKE PENINSULA, MID NORTH, FLINDERS, PARTS OF WEST COAST AND NORTH WEST PASTORAL DISTRICTS DURING SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

A low pressure trough lies over the northeast of SA, with a firm ridge to the south, extending from a high pressure system moving to the south of Australia. This will bring heavy rainfall over the Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Flinders, parts of West Coast and North West Pastoral districts.

Catchments are wetting up following recent showers and rainfall.

In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Sunday, rainfall totals of 30-60 mm have been recorded in the Flood Watch area.

During Sunday, further heavier falls of 50-70 mm are forecast over the Flood Watch area, with isolated heavier falls of up to 100 mm possible, before easing from Monday morning.

Heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area may cause areas of ponding and overland flow, along with rapid rises in local creeks and overbank flooding. Roads, travel and transport may be impacted, and communities may be cut off.

Flinders Ranges Rivers and Creeks
Broughton River
Light and Wakefield Rivers
