Tasmania Fire Service has issued a Bushfire Emergency Warning for Intersection of Cotton Street and Cressy Road, Longford - Too late to leave.

An uncontrolled bushfire at Cotton Street, Longford is travelling towards Cotton Street, Cressy Road, Haslewood Road and surrounds which is expected to put lives in danger and may destroy homes as early as Now.

There is expected to be thick smoke, and showers of embers which may cause fires all around you.

Spot fires may threaten your home before the main fire arrives.

Smoke and ash may make it difficult to see and breathe.

Tasmania Fire Service is attending. Conditions are expected to be changeable

You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.

It is too late to leave. Fire is threatening evacuation routes and leaving now will put your life in danger. You must take shelter before the fire arrives.

If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure such as a house to protect you from the heat of the fire.

What to do:

If you have a bushfire plan, use it now.

Shelter in a room on the other side of the building from the approaching fire, and one that has water and a clear exit out of the house.

Close all doors and windows and turn off air conditioners, keep water running if possible.

Bring pets indoors and restrain them.

Monitor both inside and outside for small fires and embers and turn sprinklers on if you have them.

If your home catches fire, go to an area that has already been burnt.

If you are out of the area, do not try to return.
