Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail have
developed over southeastern parts of the state.
Weather situation: Severe thunderstorms have developed in unstable
atmosphere that is in place over southeastern parts of the state.
Severe thunderstorms are moving quickly to the southeast and may
persist throughout the afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include New Norfolk, Hobart, Dodges
Ferry and Bagdad.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
