East and Central Plateau Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds developing about the south and western districts
from Tuesday afternoon.
Weather Situation: A strong cold front moving across the Bight
will increase the pressure gradient across the state during Tuesday
leading to the risk of damaging wind gusts.
Strong northwesterly winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with DAMAGING
WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are likely over south and
southwestern districts from Tuesday afternoon.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS are expected to develop about the northeast of
the state from late Tuesday afternoon. The Severe Weather Warning
is expected to be extended to this area this afternoon.
Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds from the
southwest late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Locations which may be affected include Strahan, Queenstown, New
Norfolk, Geeveston, Dover, Huonville and parts of Hobart.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play
equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to
TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when
driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further
advice.
