Damaging winds developing about the southwest and northeast on Tuesday.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front will move eastwards across the Bight and across Tasmania during Tuesday. This feature will increase the pressure gradient across the state during Tuesday leading to the risk of damaging wind gusts.

Strong northwesterly winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are likely over western and southern districts from Tuesday afternoon, extending to the North East and East Coast districts during the late afternoon and evening.

Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds from the southwest late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Swansea, Strahan, New Norfolk, Geeveston, Dover and parts of Hobart.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
