Bushfire Watch and Act
MONITOR CONDITIONS - parts GINGERAH, LAGRANGE and ROEBUCK
A Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people travelling Great
Northern Highway and in an area east of Great Northern Highway in
parts GINGERAH, LAGRANGE and ROEBUCK in the SHIRE OF BROOME.
The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as fire behaviour
has increased and is moving closer to Great Northern Highway.
There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning
in the area and conditions are changing.
WHAT TO DO
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could
change.
You may need to act quickly so ensure you are prepared if the
situation gets worse.
Read through your bushfire plan. If you do not have a plan make
one by visiting My Bushfire Plan.
Have your emergency kit ready.
If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest
option.
Keep your doors and windows closed to keep out smoke.
Continue to patrol your property and be ready to put out spot
fires.
If you plan to stay and defend ensure you are mentally and
physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent
water supply.
Bushfire behaviour
The bushfire is moving in a westerly direction.
It is not contained or controlled.
Road closures and conditions
Roads have not been closed.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive
carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads
WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by
contacting your Local Government Authority.
What firefighters are doing
Firefighters are conducting backburning activities.
Local pastoralists are strengthening containment lines.
Animal Welfare
Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should
activate their own animal welfare plan. During a bushfire take
advice from Local Government Authorities to protect the lives of
your animals while keeping yourself safe.
