Localised heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts continue, easing
into the afternoon and evening.
Weather Situation: A line of thunderstorms moving northwards along
a frontal boundary will bring a risk of heavy rainfall and damaging
winds, with more moderate rainfall expected in the hours following
the front.
Localised HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is
possible over the Lower West including Perth this morning,
extending northwards into the Central West into the afternoon.
Isolated three-hourly rainfall totals between 25 and 50 mm are
possible.
Isolated northwesterly DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are
also possible, particularly in showers and thunderstorms.
Severe conditions are expected to clear from the south of the
warning area, including Perth by the early afternoon. Conditions
will ease over the Central West during the evening.
Locations which may be affected include Perth, Moora, Gingin,
Jurien Bay, Lancelin and Badgingarra.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the South West and South
Coastal districts and the warning for these districts is
CANCELLED.
44.0 mm was recorded at Balingup in the 3 hours to 5:38 am.
24.2 mm was recorded at Manjimup in the 1 hour to 4:15 am.
111 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cape Leeuwin at 2:14 am.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm
water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from
windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones
if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power
lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and
waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should
always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance
company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly
damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
