For people in South Coastal, South East Coastal and parts of South
West and Great Southern districts.
Issued at 1:55 pm Friday, 5 September 2025.
Damaging winds forecast about the south coast on Saturday and
early Sunday. Localised heavy rainfall also possible.
Weather Situation: A low pressure system is located over waters
off the south west coast of Western Australia. This low is expected
to move east along the south coast tonight and on Saturday,
bringing the risk of damaging west to southwesterly winds and
localised heavy rainfall to coastal and adjacent inland
areas.
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around
100 kilometres per hour are likely and could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES
AND PROPERTY. Winds will develop about coastal and adjacent inland
parts of the South West and South Coastal districts from early
Saturday morning, extending east into the South East Coastal
district from late morning.
Winds will ease from the west later on Saturday and overnight into
Sunday, and are expected to drop below warning thresholds
completely early on Sunday morning.
Localised HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is also
possible, chiefly about the South West and western parts of the
South Coastal districts early on Saturday morning. Three-hourly
rainfall totals around 30 to 40 mm are possible. This risk is
expected to ease during Saturday afternoon.
People in the southwest of WA experience a front as windy as this
about 5 times per year.
Locations which may be affected include Albany, Esperance,
Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker and Bremer Bay.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:

windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones
if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power
lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and
waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should
always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance
company to organise permanent repairs.

damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
