Heavy rainfall to continue over parts of the South East Coastal into the afternoon.

Weather Situation: A low pressure system developing about the Central Wheat Belt is producing a rainband with isolated embedded heavy showers and thunderstorms over parts of the South East Coastal.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the South East Coastal district into this afternoon. 3-hour rainfall totals between 25 and 40 mm are possible, with localised falls up to 50 mm, particularly with thunderstorms.

Heavy falls are expected to ease into the late afternoon and evening.

Heavy falls also remain possible over a broader area of the inland South West Land Division east of Cunderdin. Further warnings will be issued if necessary.

30 mm was recorded at Jerdacuttup in the 2 hours to 9:55am

52 mm was recorded at Hopetoun Airport in the 6 hours to 10am.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
