Heavy rainfall continuing north of Sydney.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:30 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Brooklyn, Umina, Kearsley and the Yengo National Park southwest of Wollombi. These thunderstorms are slow moving. They are forecast to affect Palm Beach, Avalon Beach and Paxton by 8:00 pm and Mona Vale, Terrey Hills and Berowra by 8:30 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
